DropCare® SSA is the sodium salt of salicylic acid, supplied as a white crystalline powder with excellent water solubility (>500 g/L), designed for aqueous-phase anti-acne formulations. Compared with free salicylic acid, sodium salicylate carries a markedly lower acid-related irritation burden and a sensitization rate below 0.3%, making it suitable for anti-acne and soothing formulas targeting oil-sensitive skin, compromised barrier conditions, and rosacea-prone skin. It offers an alternative "gentle anti-acne" pathway: rather than relying on strong acidic exfoliation, it intervenes in acne through a multi-pronged, low-irritation mechanism of antimicrobial action, anti-inflammatory modulation, and keratin conditioning.
